Music Ministry

Church of the Savior has a large and active music program with over 20 singers and instrumentalists, some professional, some amateur, all offering their talents to glorify and worship God through music.

The Adult Choir, under the direction of Music Ministry Coordinator, Bill Vollinger, rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7PM. During Advent and Lent, rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. Different styles of choral music are presented for Sunday and other worship services. We are always looking for new members. A willingness to participate is the only requirement.

The Worship Band provides exciting and beautiful worship music once each month at our Sunday morning services. Our band includes vocalists, guitars, bass guitar, keyboard, flute, violin and percussion. New instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome.

Solo musicians also add their talents to our worship services. They include professional opera singers, instrumentalists, and composers. A hand chime choir, lead by Linda McElroy, also presents special music during the year.

Once each December our multitude of musicians perform in a Christmas Gala, a special concert open both to our congregation and to the general public. During a time of fellowship, hors d’oeuvres and desserts are served. There is no admission charge but a free will offering is collected.

“Music at Savior” is a concert series offered four times during the year on selected Sunday afternoons. Guest artists have included vocalists, jazz ensembles, cellists, organists and concert pianists. A freewill offering is collected to cover expenses. A reception to meet the artists with refreshments follows each concert.

Music for children is also offered in our church. The children of our Sunday School sing special songs at our services.
